About Us

We are seeking an experienced web developer who can join our team to design and develop our web and WAP sites, by rolling out maintaining a custom WordPress multisite installation. You need to be a domain expert in PHP, JavaScript, AJAX, CSS/XHTML, and Web 2.0 techniques. The web developer will be highly self-motivated, innovative, independent, and well versed in new technologies. This position requires a detail-oriented, product-focused professional, experienced with building high performance systems in a high-paced, high-volume environment.

Reporting to Director of Content and Creative Factory, your responsibilities would be:

• Rolling out a revamp of our corporate web and wap sites based on a custom WordPress multi-site installation; Maintaining and enhancing said system thereafter.
• Maintaining and updating web content in terms of front-end development (access rights, setting up website navigation, content placement), tracking, SEO, technical maintenance, interfacing with, and integrating back-end services.
• Developing and implementing new web features and functions for desktop and mobile phone users, utilizing JavaScript, AJAX, WAP, XHTML, PHP, and web services technologies (SOAP / REST).
• Working closely with designers, product development, and backend engineers.
• Participating in web product design and specification.
• Keeping the product out of harm’s way, by implementing sane security practices.

Requirements:

• At least 5 years of web development experience in a production environment.
• Complete understanding of general web principles (DNS, VHosts, Sessions, Load-Balancing, Caching)
• Detailed understanding of JavaScript, HTML/XHTML, CSS, and AJAX-driven applications
• Proven PHP development capabilities;
• Solid understanding of software design principles, development life cycle, OO concepts, web standards, and UI design best practices.
• Working knowledge of at least one “ajaxy” JavaScript library (e.g. jQuery, Ext-JS, YUI)
• Working knowledge of a revision control system (e.g. CVS, SVN, Git, Mercurial)
• Familiar with Unix/Linux environments, and ability to find its way around at the command line
• Good understanding of MySQL and Apache.
• Good knowledge of cross-browser development techniques and browser degradation strategies
• Knowledge in deployment and maintenance of a CMS (WordPress strongly preferred)
• Knowledge in web design, web GUI, mobile UI, and designer tools
• Well-versed in web transaction software, payment-processing software, and security software.
• WAP and XSL knowledge strongly preferred
• Good grasp in time management and can handle fast-paced environment
• Creative-thinker, techie-geek
• Ability to write documentation and reports
• Logical yet creative
• Good communicator, and ability to drive and execute web-based projects
• Strong sense of responsibility. Attention to details.
